Book Review: The Matched Series by Ally Condie

Here are some of my thoughts on the dystopian novel series by Ally Condie. We follow the lives of Cassia, and her two love interests Xander and Ky. Does she follow her heart, or does she allow the government to tell her which one she should be with?

Stay beautiful!

Matched (Matched, #1)Matched by Ally Condie

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is another dystopian series featuring a flawed government, and the heroine making the “impossible” choice between two worthy guys. The idea of the government making arranged marriages and a following glitch that occurs for Cassia I found to be very intriguing. Ally Condie does a good job of allowing you to get to know the characters and form a relationship with them so you root for them later in the series. If you like dystopian novels, then you should definitely read this series.

Crossed (Matched, #2)Crossed by Ally Condie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was the typical middle book in a trilogy. We are being set up for the ending, but in this book, we continue to follow the adventures of Cassia as she is searching for Ky. She will do whatever she has to to find him and explore her true feelings. Who will she choose, Xander or Ky? What secrets are the government keeping? What will she do when she discovers them? This is all leading up to book 3 in the series.

Reached (Matched, #3)Reached by Ally Condie

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was really disappointed with this final installment. I loved the first two books but this one was 500 pages of lite action. I don’t understand the separation of all the characters for so long, what happened to the love triangle between Xander, Ky, and Cassia, who won the vote in the end, etc. This book could’ve been an awesome conclusion and it just wasn’t. HUGE disappointment.
